Zimbabwe gambling dens

September 8th, 2020 at 7:25

The act of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the moment, so you could imagine that there might be very little affinity for going to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens. Actually, it appears to be operating the opposite way, with the desperate market circumstances creating a higher ambition to play, to try and discover a quick win, a way from the situation.

For almost all of the people subsisting on the meager local money, there are two popular forms of gambling, the state lottery and Zimbet. As with most everywhere else in the world, there is a national lottery where the chances of succeeding are extremely tiny, but then the winnings are also unbelievably large. It’s been said by economists who look at the situation that the lion’s share do not purchase a ticket with the rational expectation of profiting. Zimbet is founded on one of the national or the English soccer divisions and involves determining the results of future games.

Zimbabwe’s gambling dens, on the other foot, pamper the astonishingly rich of the state and sightseers. Up till not long ago, there was a very large tourist industry, based on safaris and trips to Victoria Falls. The market collapse and connected crime have cut into this market.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just one armed bandits. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which contain gaming tables, slot machines and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which have gaming machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling halls and the above talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is quite like a parimutuel betting system), there are also two horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the economy has contracted by beyond forty percent in recent years and with the connected deprivation and crime that has come about, it isn’t understood how healthy the vacationing industry which is the backbone of Zimbabwe’s casinos will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will carry through till things get better is simply not known.
